Convicted criminals are to give Gipsy Hill station a makeover, thanks to a public vote.
Lambeth residents have chosen the station as the most needy “grot spot” that should be cleaned up by offenders as part of their community service sentences.
It received the most votes out of five areas put forward by Lambeth Council for a makeover.
The vote - part of the Community Payback scheme - was intended to give residents a greater say in where community service is completed.
However Gipsy Hill residents will have to wait to see the litter clearing work done, as Network Rail and train operator Southern are currently carrying out their own work on the site.
The Community Payback teams - who wear branded high visibility orange jackets - will therefore visit the other four sites that lost out in the vote ahead of schedule.
