Wandsworth GP Tom Coffey has been awarded an OBE for services to healthcare in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Dr Coffey – who was born, raised and still lives and practices in Tooting – said: “I’m very proud and excited to receive such a prestigious honour, it came as quite a shock.
“I’m sure there are plenty of people out there who don’t get the recognition they deserve for all their hard work who would deserve this more than me.
“I would like to say a big thank you to all of my fantastic colleagues for their support over the years and I am very much looking forward to my date with the Queen.”
All of those honoured will be invited to Buckingham Palace to pick up their honours.
