Councillor Nigel Cooper was the guest speaker at this month’s Elmbridge U3A meeting, where he gave a talk on his year as mayor of the borough.
Coun Cooper, who stepped down as mayor in April, told the audience at Mole Hall in Walton Road, East Molesey, about his memorable year in office, which his described as “very busy”.
He also recounted his visit to Buckingham Palace.
The next Elmbridge U3A meeting is to be held on Wednesday, July 1, when Gillian Rodrigues will describe her experiences white-water rafting down the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon and rough camping on its banks at night.
All meetings are held at the Mole Hall and start at 2.30pm. All are welcome to attend and entry costs £1, which includes a cup of tea afterwards.
