A woman was slashed in the face in an unprovoked attack as she opened her front door to go to work.
The 50-year-old was leaving her mid-terraced home in Godalming Avenue, Wallington, when she was assaulted.
She had taken a few steps to her car when she was approached by an unknown man, who had been sitting, waiting, on a wall a few yards away.
The day before a man had been seen acting suspiciously with a pushbike on the pavement in the same place.
She was taken to hospital after the attack, on Friday, June 12, at 7.25am.
A police spokesman said the wound was consistent with a knife injury.
He said the attacker was a white, tanned, male, aged early 20s, about 5ft 11in tall and of stocky build.
He wore a brown or grey tracksuit and a baseball cap of the same colours.
Anyone with information should call Detective Constable Karen Down on 020 8649 0747 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
