May proved to be a sporting month for ACS Egham International School starting with the Girls’ Varsity Football team winning the International School Sports Association’s (ISSA) annual tournament, hosted at the school.

The ACS Egham Girls Soccer Team competed against seven other ISSA schools in a two-day tournament. The girls defeated the International School of London in the semi final, with a golden goal in overtime and then faced up against Southbank International School in the final. The final score was a 1-0 win to ACS Egham, with a goal from team captain Ana Gomez.

Bob Bulloch, Athletic Director at ACS Egham, commented: “The whole school is very proud of the team’s determination, sportsmanship, and skill that has led to this championship success. This is the first time that the school has won the tournament so we are particularly proud of the girls’ achievement.”

ACS Egham alumni are also achieving great heights in the world of sport. Former student, Max Ehmer has recently been selected to play professionally for Queens Park Rangers Football Team.

Seventeen year-old Max from Virginia Water attended the school between 2005 and 2008 has always been a keen footballer: “I have played football my whole life but the first football team I joined was Ascot United when I was around eight years old. Whilst at ACS Egham I played on the varsity team, which I really enjoyed. But it was whilst playing for Warfield Predators, at the age of eleven that I got scouted to play for QPR and it has been upwards from there really.”

“My whole family are keen footballers; my younger brother, Moritz, plays for the under 13s at Reading and my sister, Franziska, plays on the girls varsity team at ACS Egham.”
