Kingston Hospital has had an enforcement notice slapped on it from the London Fire Brigade after two fires earlier this year.
The hospital was formally told by the London Fire & Emergency Planning Authority to address its overall fire management policy and its no smoking policy.
There was a fire in the lift lobby on level five of the Roehampton Wing in the early hours of the morning on April 1.
A blocked ice machine’s vent caused another small fire in February in the Esher wing causing patients to be moved within the ward.
The hospital said it was ahead of the game, and money had been invested in improving fire safety before the enforcement notice was issued.
UPDATE: The hospital said the fire enforcement notice had since been rescinded after a meeting with fire officials in May.
