Residents have given cautious approval to plans to rejuvenate the riverside below Kingston Bridge displayed at the Rose Theatre on Friday and Saturday.
Canadian and Portland Estates wants to open up the riverside with more walkways and a double height landmark pavilion.
Holly Taylor, a 26-year-old actor who lives in nearby Charter Quay, said: “I think it might be a lot nicer. We have got a lot of drunk people hanging around. It might make it a bit more upmarket.”
Nigel Widden, 60, a company director, said: “The whole thing looks interesting and I quite like the improvements but there are one or two little things that bother me a bit.
“The lack of historical context which seems to be a great shame and the other thing I’m disappointed to see is the plan to lost the colonnade. I like it and to think it is functional and offers the people shade.”
Canadian and Portland said it would find a new location to replace a historic plaque in response to comments made by residents.
