An Earlsfield mother said she has been left severely traumatised after a man sent to mend her bath collapsed and died in her home.

Felicia Efole, 34, of Eton Close, found 55-year-old Colin Pocock slumped in a bathroom full of choking fumes two weeks ago.

The Health and Safety Executive is investigating the incident but the cause of death is not yet known.

Mrs Efole said: “The whole experience has left me traumatised. I have flashbacks all day long and find it very hard to sleep at night.”

Mr Pocock began resurfacing the bath about 9am on Tuesday, June 16, and shut the door to stop the fumes spreading.

Two hours later, Ms Efole found him slumped over the bath in a pool of vomit and called an ambulance, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Pocock’s employer, Renubath, said an investigation was under way but would not comment on the the chemicals he was using.

Ross Jones, managing director, said: “Everybody at Renubath is extremely sad at the passing of Colin Pocock, a respected colleague and friend who was held in great affection.”

On Monday Ms Efole and her two young children were forced to return and live back at the death scene - despite her doctor’s recommendation - because Peabody Trust, the housing association, refused to move her.

A spokesman for Peabody said there were no other properties available to Mrs Efole, but she would be put on the transfer waiting list.

It said emergency transfers were only granted after police requests to protect those in danger.
