Figures released by DEFRA show residents in Lambeth are among the least wasteful in London.
The amount of waste that is not recycled or composted by the average resident in Lambeth is 266kg per annum. This is in contrast to those in Barking and Dagenham who dispose of 419kg a year.
London Assembly member Darren Johnson said: “The fact that residents in some boroughs are producing substantially more residual waste than others shows why the Mayor needs to be doing more to help people reduce, re-use and recycle right across the capital.
"He needs to work closely with those local authorities that are failing to provide adequate recycling and composting facilities, as well as promoting bold new policies to cut the amount of waste being produced in the first place.”
