Firefighters were called to tackle a blaze at the Marks and Spencer store in Clarence Street, Kingston early this morning following reports that smoke could be seen coming from the back of the shop.
Eden Street was sealed off for about half an hour after the first two fire engines arrived about 7.30am, with the cordon later being relaxed to just cover the store.
A total of four fire engines helped fight the blaze, with a police car also making a brief stop before leaving the scene.
Early reports indicated the fire had been easily contained, with little evidence of damage to the outside of the store.
