Squatters who have taken over MPs Alan and Ann Keens' Brentford home will face court action on Friday - which could see them kicked out by Monday.

The group of 10 squatters have vowed to fight the Keens’ application for an Interim Possession Order (IPO) and are even looking forward to going to court.

Squatter Serge said: "We are still feeling pretty positive about the whole thing but at the end of the day we are the first group to get MPs into open court, no matter how we got them there.

"We are all going to question them in open court not only about expenses but about Trident and Iraq. All in open court.

"If we are forced out at least we know there is no way they will be able to stand in the next election. I don't even know how they are going to move back in here because there is such bad feeling towards them. It's like we have almost forced them to want to move back into their own home."

Neighbours said the squatters would be missed if they were evicted.

David Hodgson, 27, said: “I went round there on Sunday, they had a barbeque and speeches. It’s their way of bringing awareness to the subject and I think it might be working.

“Most people have been cool with it, they are really friendly and nobody has been negative or anything.”

A 37-year-old neighbour, who asked not to be named, said the squatters helped him find his cat when it went missing.

He said: “I think they feel that questions need to be answered, and people usually go to that kind of trouble when they feel passionately about something and want to put things right.”

A mum-of-two, who lives opposite the Keens' house said: “I have to say they’ve actually been really nice neighbours, they are not noisy and loud. We are right opposite them and they’ve been fine, I’ve no complaints about them at all.

“I think they are making a point and I think good on them. They are making a point and it’s a fair point.

“I think most people in the street seem to be supporting this....they’ve been polite to everybody and nice, they’ve not caused any nuisance in my view.”

The squatters were served on Monday and Serge said if the group were kicked out they will hold a host of gigs over the weekend for the community.

He said: "It is very surprising how the Keens managed to get the papers to us as quickly as they did. Most IPOs would take longer than that."

Since moving in the group have held comedy nights in the three-storey property and decorated the house in a Christmas theme.
