Staines Town manager Steve Cordery believes his team are well equipped for a pre-season upset against Brentford this Saturday.
The Swans hope to avoid a repeat of the Bees’ easy 3-0 friendly victory just over a year ago as they kick-start their preparation for the exciting new campaign.
Cordery says Staines are still on a high following promotion and although he doesn’t pay too much attention to results in July, it’s a game the Blue Square South newcomers want to win.
He said: “We’ve been back in training for a while and the lads all seem in good shape – they have looked after themselves over the summer.
“It was perhaps a bit too one-sided last summer but I’m sure it will be a bit different this time around. Results aren’t everything at this time of year but a win’s a win!
“The pitch has been re-done and it promises to be a cracking first match. But I don’t read too much into these results and we’ll have a look at a few things - as I’m sure Andy Scott will be.”
The League Two champions will be bringing their full first team to Wheatsheaf Park and tickets are available on the day for all fans.
Last summer over 1,000 supporters watched the friendly on a Tuesday night and another big crowd is expected at the weekend.
Adult tickets are only £10 with a concession rate for OAPs, under 15s and students with proof all available on the gate.
