A Sutton woman will attempt to travel to all 313 London Underground stations in 24 hours to raise money for charity.

Simone Handy, 23, a psychology graduate, is organising the challenge called Tube Hopping 4 Human Rights with friend Kobie Child, 27, to raise funds for the Intercultural Youth Exchange (ICYE), which sends volunteers to work in some of the poorest countries in the world.

Miss Handy said: “We will try to visit as many stations as we can and take pictures in front of the station signs as proof that we’ve been there.

“All pictures will be posted the next day on a blog page specially created for the event.”

Both women are going to travel as volunteers to Honduras with the charity in the near future. Miss Handy will work on a project to help mentally-ill children have access to special education, learning support and psychological intervention.

Miss Child will join a human rights charity to ensure local police comply with human rights legislation, deal with refugees, women and local tribes.

Those who decide to sponsor the tube hopping taking place on Friday, July 17, can suggest challenges to the duo, such as kissing Paddington Bear at Paddington station.

Sponsors can also try to guess the amount of stations they managed to visit by making a £20 donation and emailing their guess to tube hopping4humanrights@hotmail.

co.uk, to compete for two tickets to Thriller, The Musical, in London. All guesses should be in by 6pm on Thursday, July 16.
