Soul singer Mica Paris, tango dancers and an Afro-Brazillian band will have Battersea Park grooving at the World Music Festival this weekend.

The three-day event, which is free, gets under way at the park’s bandstand at 6.30pm on Friday, when stars from the world of ballroom dancing will showcase their skills and teach residents classic moves.

Argentine tango professionals will also be on stage and will be calling on the audience to get up and dance.

The lessons are suitable for all levels of ability and everyone will be given a partner.

On Saturday legendary Chelsea-based jazz venue, The 606 Club, present an evening of music including features soul artist Mica Paris, renowned bass player Stefan Redtenbacher and jazz vocalist Tony O’Malley.

The session kicks off at 7pm when Stefan Redtenbacher takes to the stage accompanied by his five-piece band, Funkestra.

Mica Paris is live on stage from 9.20pm and the three artists will appear on stage together for a jam session at 10.15pm.

On Sunday audiences can hear street percussion band Rhythms of the City play Afro-Brazilian rhythm and a traditional Maori performance.

South African six-strong group Mbawula - whose acts incorporates African Township, Basie, Ellington and Jive - take to the stage for the festival’s final act at 5.40pm.

Food will be available from a barbecue stand throughout the evening and there will be a bar offering a range of drinks.
