A van snaked across the road, flipped on its side and totally demolished a bus shelter on Wednesday morning.
The white van slammed into the bus stop on Coulsdon Road, Old Coulsdon, levelling the shelter in the early hours of the morning.
A police spokesman said: “"Police received reports that a vehicle had crashed into a bus shelter on Coulsdon Road at 5am on Wednesday, July 8.
"London Ambulance Service were not required and did not attend the scene.
"The vehicle was blocking the road but police remained on scene until the vehicle and debris were removed from the location. The road was fully reopened at 8.15am."
A spokesman for TfL said engineers had been called to assess the damage and start the process of rebuilding the bus shelter.
