A Natwest branch was sealed off by police after two men launched a morning raid on a security van.
It is not yet known how much money was stolen in the snatch-and-run job, which took place outside the Teddington High Street bank yesterday morning shortly before 11am.
Speaking at the scene, Police Sergeant Ian Gardner told the Richmond and Twickenham Times: “It was a snatch raid on a cash-in-transit job, there were no firearms or other weapons used and no assault, nobody was hurt.”
He said that two men were in the foyer of the bank when one of them snatched a money box from a passing security guard before both ran off down Station Road and disappeared.
A police spokeswoman confirmed the van had been raided and added the bank had been cordoned off while officers spoke to staff and witnesses.
