Ashford Town (Middlesex) goalkeeper Paul Burgess has become the first player in the club’s 45-year history to be awarded a testimonial.
Butler, a lifelong Tottenham Hotspur fan, will be honoured with the visit of a Spurs Legends side to Short Lane on Sunday, September 27 (2pm).
Since making his debut in the summer of 1990, the 39-year-old has amassed 651 first-team appearances as well as playing in countless friendly and reserve fixtures.
Players who could feature for Spurs legends include Mark Falco, Tony Galvin, Les Boughey, Perry Suckling, Andy Edmonds, Mark Stimson, Mark Robson, Steve Smart, Richard Cooke, Trevor Wilkinson, Tim O’Shea, Danny Hill, Ralph Coates, John Pratt, Dennis Bond, Garry Brooke, Micky Hazard and Steve Sedgley.
The club hopes to stage further events in his honour during the season.
