Mole Valley District Council has joined over 90 councils nationwide in its support of the 'Keep Britain Tidy' vehicle litter campaign.
The initiative which started this week aims to encourage drivers to take their litter home and dispose of it there rather than discarding it from their cars.
The council has agreed to keep a record of the amounts of roadside litter before, during and after the campaign.
Councillor Chris Reynolds, portfolio holder for environment and sustainability said: "It is excellent news that so many Councils nationwide have agreed to support such a worthwhile campaign to help reduce vehicle litter."
