The people of Renmuir Street in Tooting will never feel alone again after this mischievous moggy unwittingly brought them together.
Nathalie Pownall, 31, was distraught when her cat Levi went missing, but it was during her week-long search that she found new friends in neighbours, postmen, tube workers, street cleaners, shopkeepers even parking attendants.
As the community joined in the hunt she heard stories of a little white cat crying in the night, but no-one knew where he was hiding.
Last Sunday, as the final resort, she embarked on a door-to-door search, and found the three-year-old Bengal in the garden of the last house.
Overjoyed to find her little friend, the theatre actress vowed to keep in touch with everyone and always offer a helping hand.
She said: “It was really heart-warming to know that even people I didn't know were desperate for me to find my cat, children and adults alike.
“They freely opened their doors to me, a complete stranger, so I could check their gardens.
“Without them, I probably would still be hunting for him. The sun may have shone but I'd be without my shadow.”
