Low income homeowners can now get a helping hand with home repairs, after the launch of a new loan scheme.

Elmbridge Council launched the scheme in partnership with not-for-profit finance organisation South Coast Money Line.

It aims to help homeowners who cannot afford to pay for much needed repairs or improvements such as repairs to roofs, windows, heating and rewiring.

Elmbridge Council, along with four other councils from Surrey and Hampshire, set up the scheme using special funding awarded to them by the Government.

Councillor John O’Reilly said: “This is a great new scheme to help people with the upkeep of their homes by offering subsidised loans at low interest rates with flexible repayment arrangements to meet the needs of households as far as possible.”
