Two Hammersmith and Fulham borough pools are to give free swimming lessons for under 16s in August.
The offer, funded by NHS Hammersmith and Fulham, is available at both Phoenix Fitness Centre on Bloemfontein Road and Fulham Pools on Lillie Road.
Councillor Paul Bristow, cabinet member for residents' services, said: ”This is excellent news for young people in the borough.
"NHS Hammersmith and Fulham and the council are committed to improving the health and well-being of all residents, especially young people, so make sure that you make the splash."
Those aged nine to sixteen can swim unaccompanied at either leisure centure from 2pm to 4pm, or with an adult between 10am and noon.
A free swimming application form can be picked up from a variety of schools, libraries, children’s centres and leisure centres, to be returned with a fee of £1.
Dr Dagmar Zeuner from NHS Hammersmith and Fulham said: "We know that saving money is a priority for everyone at the moment and combined with the summer holiday search to keep youngsters entertained, there is no better time to take advantage of this offer."
