A leading cat charity in Epsom and Ewell is warning people that lilies can kill cats.
Cats Protection, a charity that aims to help and re-home abandoned pets, has urged owners to be aware of the risks from the plants, which can be extremely toxic to animals.
Signs of poisoning from lilies include continued vomiting, blindness, paralysis, renal failure, and coma. The charity has warned that cats can be affected after eating parts of the plant or simply by brushing past the flower and then grooming the pollen from the fur.
The charity advises owners who think their cat may have been affected by lilies to get the cat to a vet as soon as possible to receive urgent treatment.
