As part of Epsom Protection Society’s 50th anniversary year celebrations, 48 members recently sailed across the Channel to spend three days in the borough’s twin town, Chantilly.
Among the attractions visited were the French town’s chateau and the Musee Vivant du Cheval where they watched an equestrian spectacular.
Chantilly has been awarded the status of Ville d’art et d’histoire and the society’s party was conducted through the canals and the pavilion, which were constructed in 1679 to supply water to the chateau.
Norman Dempster who, with treasurer Tony Smith, organised the trip, said: “It was a wonderful visit.
“The maintenance of the old architecture and the town’s heritage were explained to us.”
