The Children’s Trust in Tadworth walked away with a top prize at a national awards ceremony last week.

The Rehabilitation First Awards celebrate organisations and individuals that excel in all aspects of rehabilitation.

The trust, which offers rehabilitation services for children with brain injuries, was presented with the trophy for rehabilitation initiative of the year.

The judges said they were impressed with the Children’s Trust’s clear mission and vision in the field of rehabilitation.

It started the UK’s first ever rehabilitation service for children with acquired brain injury in 1985 and remains the UK’s largest centre for children’s residential rehabilitation.

A new state-of-the-art residential rehabilitation centre is being officially opened next month, which will improve the trust’s facilities and increase the number of children and young people across the UK it is able to help each year.

Sally Jenkinson, director of children’s services at the trust, said: “We are thrilled to win for this award.

“Our rehabilitation services for children with acquired brain injury significantly improve a child’s chance of regaining lost skills, participating in their community and being able to live more independently.”
