A series of exciting events are planned to mark the London 2012 Open Weekend this month.
Elmbridge Council has devised an Elmbridge Opens Up weekend to mark the occasion, with places across the borough opening their doors on July 24 and 25.
Agnes Meadows will hold a performance poem talk in Esher’s Civic Centre on Friday, July 24, at 8pm, but if you prefer more hands-on entertainment, there will be a prose writing session at Walton Centre for the Retired on the same day, between 1.15pm and 2pm.
For anybody over eight who likes being active, there will be an opportunity to try out different sports ay Churchfields Recreation Ground, in Weybridge, from 10am to noon on July 25.
There will also be an art exhibition on the basketball courts there between 11am and 5pm.
Elmbridge Museum, in Weybridge, will keep its doors open from 10am to 5pm, with a break from 1pm to 2pm, on Saturday, July 25, and everyone is invited to pay them a visit and help celebrate the museum’s centenary.
Councillor Jan Fuller said: “Elmbridge Opens Up is a wonderful opportunity to take the values and ideas of the games to the local community and give them access to arts, culture and sport in a totally innovative and enjoyable way.”
