Entrepreneurs are being encourage to take the plunge and start their own business despite the recession.

Business support service Business Link said Croydon entrepreneurs were not backing down from the challenge, with 59 per cent planning to grow their business in the next year.

Denis Palmer, regional manager at Business Link in London, said: “Taking the first steps towards starting a business can be a very daunting task.

“There are a lot of potential entrepreneurs out there that are put off by the amount of boxes to tick and paperwork involved with starting a new enterprise.

“The result is that a lot of would-be entrepreneurs never take the leap purely because they aren’t aware of all the help and information that is available to them at no cost.

“It needn’t take months and months to get off the ground.

“We’re challenging anyone in Croydon with a business idea to get their enterprise going – a challenge that’s eminently reachable if they make the most of all the support that’s out there.”
