A Cheam cyclist was part of a team that covered 393 miles during a 24-hour relay bike ride for Action Medical Research.
Danny Mann and four colleagues peddled through the night to complete 139 laps of the Top Gear test track in Dunsfold, Surrey.
Afterwards they were presented with a medal for their achievement by Nicole Cooke, the Olympic and world road-race champion.
Dr Tony Rahman, a consultant at St Anthony’s Hospital in Cheam, will be hoping to emulate their success on September 4.
He is embarking on a bike ride from central London to Paris to raise funds for the Hope and Play charity he set up with a friend.
It aims to give children in war-torn regions and refugee camps access to education and play facilities.
