A 72-year-old woman hit by a train after attempting to cross the tracks with her great-granddaughter on July 1 remains in hospital.
The Shepperton resident was taken to St George’s Hospital with multiple injuries after the accident and officers described her current condition as critical but stable.
Her seven-year-old great-granddaughter was found wandering on the train tracks at Hampton Wick station after she was hit by the 11.45pm empty stock service from Shepperton to Wimbledon.
The railway line was closed until about 1.25am the following day, when it was handed back to Network Rail.
British Transport Police are not treating the incident as suspicious but are asking witnesses to call 0800 405040, quoting incident one of 2/7/09.
