Chessington World of Adventures has re-opened after this morning's chemical leak which shut the Forbidden Kingdom and the Mystic East zones of the theme park.
The owners have not said how hazardous and corrosive hydrochloric acid came to leak from a water purification tank causing a full scale alert involving six firefighting vehicles.
Hydrochloric acid is a liquid that reacts with most metals to form explosive hydrogen gas and can cause severe burns and irritation of the eyes, skin and organs.
A spokesman said the site was now clear and a contractor had been hired to carry out any other repair work to the tank, which is in a service area behind the site.
Firefighters were called at 7.20am today to reports of a minor leak in a service area behind the public sections of the park.
The Forbidden Kingdom and Mystic East zones were closed as a precaution.
The rest of the theme park stayed open for business.
