The welly wanging mayor, Councillor Jan Mason, put some muscle behind it when she sent an up-market green rubber boot flying through the air.
She launched the wellie hurling contest with a good effort when she opened St Martins Infant School summer fete in Epsom on Saturday.
The fete raised more than £2,000 to help pay for audio visual equipment for the school.
One of the most popular events of the afternoon was the mini Olympics featuring such classics as a sack race, and egg and spoon race.
