By Community Correspondent, Philippa Hennessy Stephen Hammond, MP for Wimbledon, has welcomed the news that there has been progress in plans to build a new local care centre at the Nelson Hospital in Wimbledon. The business case for the construction of the £21m centre – as part of a £264m boost to health services in Sutton and Merton – has been submitted by Sutton and Merton Primary Care Trust. Stephen Hammond said: “I am delighted that we are finally making some progress. Better Healthcare Closer to Home has been a much delayed project – it is time for action.”
He continued: “Wimbledon residents will benefit greatly from a new care centre at the Nelson Hospital, which is an essential local amenity. I will be working with all the relevant parties to ensure that the investment is secured and this vital project goes ahead.”
