Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has played down reports he wants to sign Crystal Palace's Nathaniel Clyne.
The Black Cats boss was linked with a £3m bid for the teenager last week having been an admirer of the right back when in charge of Wigan Athletic last season but has denied he has made any attempt to sign the 18-year-old.
He told the Sunderland Echo: "No, he's not a player that we've been in for and there's been no bid."
Palace manager Neil Warnock wants to hold on to Clyne but a bid of around £5m could be enough to force the club to sell the academy graduate.
