Staff at G4S pulled together to raise more than £1,300 for the Gurkha Welfare Trust during a sponsored tug-of-war competition.
Up to 200 spectators cheered as 18 teams from across the security giant, based in Sutton, competed in Manor Park for a bottle of champagne.
The runners-up received Kukris weapons from John Whitwam, managing director of G4S Gurkha Services, the UK’s largest employer of former Gurkha officers.
He said: “With a traditional Gurkha lunch, including bhat curry and some very popular beer laid on by the British Army for competitors and onlookers, the event has proved so successful that it is now to be an annual event for us at G4S.”
