Merton libraries are to include “wellbeing information points” to help residents manage their stress levels.
The move is intended to improve resident’s access to mental health services in the borough and is being led by local mental health charity Imagine and Sutton and Merton PCT.
A specialist is already available at Mitcham Library for a drop in service at selected times giving advice and assessments without the need of an appointment.
Free workshops are also being planned at libraries to provide assistance on everything from building confidence to managing stress in the workplace.
Councillor Maurice Groves, the council’s cabinet member for adult care services and health, said: “Increasingly, levels of work stress are spilling over into our private lives.
“These workshops will suggest ways to alleviate stress along with providing helpful dietary information and advice.”
