Plans to build a £21m local care centre at the Nelson Hospital in Wimbledon have taken a significant step forward.
Sutton and Merton Primary Care Trust has submitted the business case for the construction of the centre as part of a £264m boost to health services across both boroughs.
Wimbledon MP Stephen Hammond welcomed the development. He said: “I am delighted that we are finally making some progress. Better Healthcare Closer to Home has been a much delayed project - it is time for action.
“Wimbledon residents will benefit greatly from a new care centre at the Nelson Hospital, which is an essential local amenity. I will be working with all the relevant parties to ensure that the investment is secured and this vital project goes ahead.”
