A queue of bargain hunters snaked through Mitcham early on Thursday morning, waiting to snap up a deal at the opening of a new supermarket.
One-off offers, including camcorders for under £50 and half price mobile phones, enticed shoppers into the Lidl store in Western Road as its doors opened at 8am.
The store opening has created 20 new jobs for Mitcham with more to be created as retail-giant Morrisons expects to open a supermarket in the town centre by the end of the summer.
