A taxi driver was robbed by two thugs after dropping them off in Tattenham Corner.

Sometime between 2.30am and 3am on Sunday, the taxi driver was dropping off the two criminals, in Henbit Close, when they demanded the driver’s money and mobile phone.

The driver handed over a small amount of money and a mobile and the men ran off.

The first man is described as a white man, in his early 20s, 5ft 5in tall, of medium build and had spiky hair.

He was wearing a dark blue or black long sleeve shirt, blue denim jeans, gold chain around his neck and possibly had tattoos on his upper chest.

The second man is described as a white man of thin build, approximately 5ft 5in tall, in his early 20s.

He was wearing a dark blue or black long sleeve shirt and blue denim jeans. He was also wearing gold rings.

Detectives are now appealing for witnesses.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Nicola Hunt from Epsom CID said: “Street robbery is rare in this area and, though the suspects didn’t touch the victim, this was a very frightening experience for him.

“We have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with this robbery but I am appealing to members of the community to think back to the early hours of Sunday morning.

“Did you hear a commotion in Henbit Close or maybe you live nearby and were disturbed by lots of noise? Or perhaps you recognise the suspects’ description? With your help Surrey Police bring those responsible for this robbery to justice.”
