Two men who viciously attacked an 18-year-old at Reigate rail station, leaving him with a broken jaw, have each been jailed for a year.
Cameron Nesbeth,19, of Moys Close, Croydon and Nathan Burnett,19, of Ongar Hill, Addlestone, were sentenced at Croydon Crown Court.
The pair were at Reigate station on October 5, 2007 when they spotted their 18-year-old victim. Nesbeth had an argument with him a few weeks earlier.
The three men began arguing before Nesbeth and Burnett both attacked the 18-year-old, breaking his jaw and leaving him needing surgery.
Nesbeth and Burnett were arrested after the victim identified them to the police.
DC Sarah Garden, based in British Transport Police’s Public Protection Unit, said: “I would like to thank the victim for coming forward because it was with his help and the testimony he provided that we were able to quickly identify Nesbeth and Burnett as the culprits.
“This was an aggressive and unprovoked attack on a man who was simply going about his business and I hope that the sentences handed down to Nesbeth and Burnett send out the clearest possible message that this sort of violence will not be tolerated.”
Both men were convicted of inflicting grievous bodily harm, with Nesbeth pleading guilty and a jury finding Burnett guilty.
