By Community Correspondent Ann Ali For more than sixty years,Epsom and Ewell Art group has been a focus for local artists to come together to discuss art and learn from one another. The group will put on four exhibitions this year, in Bourne Hall, Denbies and the Ebbersham Centre. The town has many artists working in a variety of media. It boasts the University of the Creative Arts and Nescot but Epsom centre lacks a gallery space in which local artist and craftspeople can exhibit and sell their work. The Surrey Open Studio scheme and the formation of Epsom Contemporary Art Network ECAN are welcome but gallery space is need.
Art in public spaces can cheer people up, start discussions, involve all age grops and increase enviromental awareness.Epsom and Ewell Art Group invites Epsom and Ewell Borough Council and the local business community to recognise the positve role that art could play in promoting the image of Epsom and Ewell as a great place to live and do business, and in enhancing the life of the community.
The Epsom and Ewell Art Group invite you to see their next two exhibitions at Denbies 10th to 23rd August and then at Bourne Hall 9th to 14th November 2009.
