Boris Johnson is due to be met by hundreds of protestors determined to save the N213 night bus when he visits Croydon today (Wednesday).
The only night bus running between Croydon and Sutton was cancelled on July 4, by Transport for London (TfL) because they said the route was only used lightly.
Laura Wheeler, 22 and her sister May, 22, fear vulnerable youths will be forced to take unlicensed cabs or walk home after a night out.
The sisters and their friends started a facebook group to get the route reinstated. It now has almost 4,000 members.
Hundreds of young people gathered last week in Wallington town centre for the first protest against the decision to axe the N213.
This second protest is expected to be even larger with over 550 people already signed up to attend.
Miss Wheeler said: “We hope to show Mr Johnson just how important the bus service is for young people in the area so he will reverse this appalling decision.”
The campaign has attracted the support of Sutton MP Tom Brake and Steve O’Connell, the Croydon and Sutton representative on the Greater London Assembly.
Councillor O’Connell has promised to speak to the London Mayor on behalf of the group.
The protest has been organised outside Fairfield Halls on July 22, from 6-7pm.
