A cancer survivor unveiled a new way to donate “online” last week by stringing washing hooks outside a charity shop in Cheam Village.
Joanna Bunker, 38, pegged out some of her unwanted clothes to inspire others to hand over good-quality textile items to Cancer Research UK.
She said: “By letting it all hang out I’m taking a fun approach to illustrating what this shop urgently needs – clean clothes and accessories.
“I would urge people to take 10 minutes to have a look through their wardrobes, find a couple of gems they no longer need and donate them to this shop.”
Maree Corbett, manager of the branch in the Broadway, said: “Our customers are great and as loyal as ever, but it is getting more difficult to keep the shelves and the rails stocked.
“The demand is there so we need help to replenish our stock all the time.”
