Nightingale residents gathered on Wednesday to demand better road safety measures in their neighbourhood.
They rolled out a 32 ft petition containing 856 signatures requesting to make Nightingale Lane safer- an issue they say the council has ignored for 14 years.
The road was the scene of a terrible accident last year, when a local mum was mown down by a cement mixing lorry but survived her injuries.
Sadiq Khan, MP for Tooting, said: “I have every sympathy with residents of Nightingale Lane, whose lives have been made a misery.
“Action needs to be taken now.”
The petition was presented to Councillor Sarah McDermott by The Nightingale Neighbourhood Association (TNNA).
Campaigners other measures to replace the speed bumps, which they say do not stop vehicles racing down the busy B-road.
Demands include a 20mph speed limit, a cycle lane and speed cameras.
TNNA secretary David Hornsby said: “All that we want are modern alternatives to the crumbling 14 year old speed bumps, which to add insult to injury they have even failed to maintain.
“The council should be in no doubt that if they fail to listen once again, we are prepared to mount a campaign of direct action and civil disobedience. This petition is our final olive branch.”
A spokesman for the council said: “Since they were introduced the traffic calming measures have successfully reduced vehicle speeds and dramatically cut the accident rate on Nightingale Lane.
“Councillors and planning officers have been in regular consultation with the residents involved and we are happy to continue working with them to address their concerns. The petition is being carefully examined and we will respond to the issues raised once they have been properly considered.”
