A young jazz band proved to be the kings of swing during performances at a world famous music festival.
The Merton Youth Jazz Orchestra (MYJO) hit all the right notes at the Montreux Music Festival in Lake Geneva, Switzerland. The band played to packed crowds on the festival’s Parc Vernex stage on July 16 and 17.
The orchestra’s musical director and chief executive, John Mander, said the event was one the young performers would remember for the rest of their lives.
He said: “Playing at the Montreux Jazz Festival is a great honour and comes on top of wonderful performances at the Royal Albert Hall and Wimbledon Tennis Championship this year.
“We were particularly delighted to be invited by the festival organiser to extend our performance on the Friday following MYJO’s tremendous concert the previous day.”
