PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO ONE-WAY WORKING AND INTRODUCTION OF AN ADVISORY CONTRA-FLOW CYCLE LANE.
ST. JAMES'S PARK, CROYDON.
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Croydon Council propose to make a Traffic Order under Section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended and all other enabling powers.
2. The general effect of the Order will be to revoke the existing one-way working in St. James's Park and reintroduce the one-way working in a southerly direction so that it applies throughout the entire length of the road.
NOTE: the existing mandatory contra-flow cycle lane in St. James's Park will remain and an advisory contra-flow cycle lane will be marked alongside existing parking bays and extend from the existing cycle lane to its junction with Windmill Road.
3. A copy of the proposed Order and all related documents can be inspected until the last day of a period of six weeks beginning with the date on which the Order was made or, as the case may be, the Council decides not to make the Order, during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive at the Enquiry Counter, "Access Croydon" Facility, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, Surrey.

5. Persons desiring to object to the proposed Order should send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds thereof to the Order Making Section, Parking Services, Community Services, 9th Floor, South West Side, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, CR9 1EN or email : Parking.Design@croydon.gov.uk quoting the reference CS/PS/JAA/9/J34 by 19 August 2009.
6. The Councillors for this Ward are Timothy Godfrey, Toni Letts and Gerry Ryan.
7. The Order is intended to revoke the existing one-way working in St. James's Park and reintroduce the one-way working in a southerly direction in the entire length of St. James's Park. An advisory contra-flow cycle lane will be introduced in that section of the road between the existing mandatory cycle lane and its junction with Windmill Road. This will provide cycle facilities for vulnerable road users and create a better chance to cycle safely throughout the whole length of St James's Park and reduce conflict between motorists and cyclists.
