A green-fingered Kingston pub landlady will show off her award-winning beer garden at a charity open day this Sunday.
Janet Turnes spends several hours a week tending to her plants in between shifts in the kitchen at the Wych Elm.
Her efforts have led to the garden being listed in this year’s National Gardens Scheme’s Yellow Book and asked to host an open-garden event for charities including Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Mrs Turnes and husband Manuel have run the pub in Elm Road for 26 years and have won gold awards from Kingston in Bloom and London in Bloom.
She said: “We hope our garden brings visitors on the open day a small amount of the happiness it has brought us over the years.”
A barbecue and cream tea will be held in the garden. Entry costs £2.50.
