Children and adults alike had a blast at New Malden fire station’s open day last week, with close to 800 people turning up to see firefighters tackling a mock inferno and messing about with water on July 25.
Cheeky children were queueing up to give staff from New Malden’s Blue Watch a taste of their own medicine by dousing them with buckets of water on the ‘soak the firefighter’ stall.
Temperatures were raised when crew members demonstrated the dangers of throwing water on hot fat fires in the kitchen, creating an enormous sheet of flame to stun excited onlookers.
