A centenarian known as “Little Chip” as a child was treated like a big shot when she celebrated her 101st birthday last week.
Pupils from Holy Trinity Junior School presented Daisy Foreman with a cake, flowers and cards at South Carshalton Day Centre.
The great-grandmother, who has lived in Wallington for 22 years, worked as a lampshade maker for three decades until aged 85.
Day centre manager Kathy Morgan said: “We try to engage with local primary schools as much as possible because, as well as our clients enjoying mixing with the children, there is a wealth of knowledge here that needs to be passed from generation to generation.
“Daisy comes from a family of seven children and, as a child, was known as little chip, a nickname she was given as she was so small.
“She was recently one of the lucky winners of the Carshalton Carnival balloon race, for which she received £50.”
