Young people are being invited to take part in a new street art project which is giving a new look to the skate ramps at Longrove Park, Epsom.
The first stage took place on Wednesday when volunteers and young people on reparation orders with the Youth Justice Team cleaned up the ramps and gave them a base coat of paint.
The repainting will take place next Wednesday, August 5 between 11am-5pm, when young people will be encouraged to work alongside students from the University of Creative Arts to paint the ramps in bright, bold colours and enjoy a barbeque as a thank you for their hard work.
Councillor Clive Woodbridge, Chairman of Epsom and Ewell Borough Council’s Leisure Committee, said: “The Longrove Park skate ramps are well used by young people in the borough and it is fitting they should have a say as to how they should look.”
Ashly Keane, a student at the University of Creative Arts, who is involved in the project, added: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to get involved and make their facilities a place that they can feel proud of. It’s also great to be able to make them aware of what the University of the Creative Arts does and show them how they could be involved in similar projects in the future."
