Corinthian Casuals and Loxwood played out an entertaining friendly match on Tuesday, in a game where both sides played good football.
It was played in an excellent spirit and moved referee Peter Georgiou to state afterwards that it had been a pleasure to officiate in such a match.
The game sprang into life on 29 minutes when Jamal Carr saw his 30 yard effort tipped over the bar. A minute later, Glenn Boosey’s cross was met at the far post by Paul Hunt, who had the simple task of giving Casuals the lead.
Three minutes later a fumble by the Loxwood goalkeeper was deflected into his own net by a defender and Casuals were firmly in control. Loxwood did not abandon their passing game and continued to cause the home side problems.
Two minutes after the interval, Warren Greaves raced clear for Casuals, but the Loxwood keeper did well to save.
Then on 56 minutes Carr was brought down in the area, but unfortunately the resultant spot kick was saved.
The third goal came with 14 minutes remaining as Carr made amends for the penalty miss.
