A retired hat designer celebrated her 100th birthday at Mayday Hospital after recovering from a hip operation.
Beatrice Dawson was admitted to the hospital on Sunday, July 19, after fracturing her right hip in a fall.
By Thursday, she was well enough to celebrate her centenary at the hospital surrounded by family and friends.
Mrs Dawson received her telegram from the Queen and had a small birthday party on one of the trust’s elderly care wards.
Paul Diggory, Mrs Dawson’s consultant, said: “Rene is an inspiration to all of us. She has come in, had an operation, and within three days, is back on her feet in time for her 100th birthday – a fantastic achievement. I am delighted to celebrate her birthday with her.”
She is recovering well and is due to be discharged in a few days time.
